Dentsu Group Acquires LiveArea
Dentsu Group Inc. announced that it has entered an agreement to acquire LiveArea, a global customer experience and commerce agency, subject to customary closing conditions. LiveArea is a division of PFSweb Inc. LiveArea will join Merkle, a leading technology-enabled, data-driven customer experience management (CXM) company within Dentsu Group’s international business, Dentsu International.

With this acquisition, LiveArea bolsters Merkle’s global experience and commerce capabilities and furthers Merkle’s position as a go to experience partner for businesses around the world. The acquisition demonstrates the Group’s commitment to enable clients to deliver best-in-class differentiated and connected commerce experiences across the entire customer journey.
 
Kroger Collaborates with KNAPP to Modernize and Expand Great Lakes Distribution Center
The Kroger Co., America’s largest grocery retailer, and KNAPP, a global leader in intelligent automation and specialized software solutions, announced their agreement to deploy, expand, and enhance the capabilities and capacity of the retailer’s existing Great Lakes Distribution Center in Delaware, Ohio. The facility is currently being renovated to add modern state-of-the-art technology and is expected to be complete this summer.

The distribution center opened in 2003 and currently services 115 stores in central and northwest Ohio, as well as southeast Michigan and the Ohio River Valley region. During the renovation, the facility will expand by 130,000 square feet.

“Kroger’s investment in KNAPP’s latest technology allows the Great Lakes Distribution Center to improve efficiency in replenishing our stores, enabling us to quickly deliver fresh food to our customers,” says Tony Lucchino, Kroger’s Vice President of Supply Chain and Network Strategy.
 
Walgreens expands Uber collaboration
Walgreens is offering products directly on the Uber Eats platform to U.S. customers, an expansion of its same-day delivery partnership with the rideshare company.

The on-demand delivery service is available from more than 7,800 stores across the United States with Puerto Rico to soon follow, according to a press release. The goal is to expand the product assortment to more than 20,000.

"Walgreens provides our customers with seamless health and well-being experiences, and offering them convenient delivery solutions on whichever platform they prefer to shop is key," says Stefanie Kruse, vice president, digital commerce and omnichannel at Walgreens.
 
Forbes Adds Newly Created Role Of Chief Customer Experience Officer
Forbes Chief Revenue Officer Jessica Sibley announced that Lynn Schlesinger, who formerly held the position of CMO, has been appointed Chief Customer Experience Officer (CxO), a new role reporting to Forbes’ Chief Technology Officer Vadim Supitskiy. And Sherry Phillips, a long time Forbes veteran, has been promoted to Chief Marketing Officer.

“After reflecting on everything we’ve accomplished thus far this year, these new executive appointments will allow us to continue to position our business for growth opportunities that further align with company-wide priorities,” said Jessica Sibley.
 
NexTrex Incentive Program Rewards Suppliers for Recycling Milestones
One of the largest plastic recycling initiatives in North America, Trex Company’s NexTrex® Retail Recycling Program makes being sustainable simple and satisfying by rewarding participants for collecting post-consumer plastic film. Launched in 2020, the NexTrex Supplier Incentive Program encourages retailer participation by awarding points for their contributions, which they can use to redeem Trex rewards. Coming out on top at the completion of the program’s inaugural year was Price Chopper Supermarkets, which collected and contributed more than 1.5 million pounds of recycled post-consumer plastic film to be repurposed into beautiful, high-performance Trex composite decking.
