Taco Bell, along with its franchisees and licensees, has announced it is hiring 30,000 people this summer. The brand has been innovating to try and make restaurants safer for employees and customers. It is hiring for all positions at restaurants as well as new roles created to reflect the recent shift in operations. These new positions are meant to keep the drive-thru running smoothly, manage delivery, curbside pickup and mobile app orders, and maintain sanitation and cleaning procedures. The brand is also working on how to best interview candidates, such as virtual and curbside interviews.
“Since COVID-19 became a reality, we have continued our commitment to putting our people first,” said Kelly McCulloch, Taco Bell’s Chief People Officer. “We work closely with our franchisees to ensure that we’re meeting the needs of our restaurant teams. Their safety and wellbeing remain our first priority. With this new hiring wave, we look forward to expanding our Taco Bell family and providing great, safe jobs to even more people.”
Taco Bell has outlined some of the practices it is initiating to keep both customers and employees safe. Before interacting with food or equipment, all employees will have their temperatures taken using a contactless infrared thermometer. The brand and its franchisees will also give gloves and facemasks to employees and providing guidelines on alternative face coverings in the case employees would prefer to choose their own. Taco Bell is also offering support for employees with programs like access to employee assistance programs and virtual doctor’s appointments.
“During these tough times, we want job-seekers to know that we’re hiring and we’re safe,” said McCulloch. “Our’ Start With Us, Stay With Us’ mantra rings true even during this unprecedented time. Whether you’ve worked with us before, find yourself looking for a new opportunity, or are looking for your first job, we’re here for you and can provide great career opportunities – even if it’s just to help get you back on your feet. In partnership with our franchisees, we hope that we can use our footprint and be a part of the solution to help kickstart the workforce.”
The brand’s “Start With Us, Stay With Us” platform is for those new employees that need just a temporary position or want a career with the brand; all are welcome to join. The brand is also offering optional education and career-building programs to any employee, no matter how long they want to stay with the brand.
