AARP Launches Resources to Protect Veterans from Fraud
AARP launched the AARP Veterans Fraud Center, a new online education and resource center to help protect veterans, service members and their families against fraud. Free resources include a scam alert handbook, fraud tracking map and Operation Protect Veterans, a joint program with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
AARP will also host a free, drive-thru, contactless Fraud Watch shred event to shred personal and financial documents to avoid identity theft.
Advance and the Dodgers will also collaborate on community activations, including the Dodgers’ Mexican Heritage games. As part of the activation, fans attending either game will receive an exclusive Mexican Heritage Dodgers jersey with Advance branding.
The partnership comes as Advance continues its growth in California and the L.A. market. The exclusive agreement also includes rights for Carquest Auto Parts to serve as the team’s official auto parts retailer, and DieHard® batteries will be the Dodgers’ official car battery.
“Our franchisees are thanking their restaurant crew in unique, meaningful ways for all this and more,” said Tiffanie Boyd, McDonald’s USA chief people officer.
One reward was a visit by rapper Lil Yachty to surprise workers at an Atlanta restaurant. The company shared that other celebrations may include surprise flower or balloon deliveries, free tickets to see a favorite artist or sports team, or a weekend getaway.
Pittsburgh area food pantries will also benefit from the BJ’s Feeding Communities program, where they’ll receive donations of meat, produce, dairy and more on a weekly basis.
“We want to give access to healthy food so communities in the Pittsburgh area can have the nourishment they need to flourish. Our partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank helps make this happen,” said Bill Werner, executive director, BJ’s Charitable Foundation.
Additionally, BJ’s Charitable Foundation donated funds to support teacher-submitted projects through DonorsChoose, as well as to Pittsburgh’s YMCA Y on the Fly program to help provide a safe environment for children in under-served neighborhoods.
