Charleys Kids Foundation Donates Over $1 Million
Charleys Philly Steaks recently distributed over $1 million in grants to help children in need. The Charleys Kids Foundation (Charleys Kids) was founded by Charley Shin of Charleys Philly Steaks, and the recent grant distribution is the largest amount in the charity’s history. Charleys Kids helps provide children with the necessary resources they need to succeed by supporting education, food and mentorship efforts throughout the United States.
The foundation is funded by the sale of Charleys’ combo meals at its locations. For every combo meal purchased, ten cents are donated to Charleys Kids. Charleys Kids helps kidsPACK, Inc., provide children in need with a backpack full of nutritious food on Fridays to sustain them on weekends when they do not have access to school-provided meals.
Taco John’s Appoints New Chief Operations Officer
Taco John’s announced that industry veteran Mark Kocer is joining its executive leadership team as Chief Operations Officer. Kocer will oversee Taco John’s day-to-day operations, assist with its expansion plans and technological upgrades, and serve as a mentor to leaders within the brand and franchise system.
Kocer was most recently a division vice president for Arby’s. Under his leadership, the division generated over $1 billion in sales and was the top-ranked in performance. Kocer will operate out of the new Taco John’s Restaurant Support Center in St. Louis Park where the brand recently transitioned its operating, marketing and finance functions.
JOANN and Sutton Foster Partner for Mental Health
JOANN fabric and craft store has partnered with Sutton Foster to bring awareness to mental health. On World Mental Health Day, the two shed light on the ways creating can improve mental health and will provide free access to crafting projects for all skill levels. In her recent memoir, “Hooked; How Crafting Saved My Life,” Sutton reflects on the ways crafting kept her balanced throughout personal and career highs and lows, and how it can help others.
