Uber will expand its partnership with Google to improve the modernization of its cloud infrastructure and improve customer experience. Google will provide innovations to Ubers software, including artificial intelligence, data analytics, and edge networking.
As part of the partnership, Uber will move some of its critical infrastructure to the Google Cloud, allowing it to use Google Ads and the Maps Platform. Additionally, Uber will access Google’s Cloud Spanner to provide rapid scalability.
The goal of the partnership is to increase customer experience for Uber users. The technological improvements Google brings should reduce cost per trip, accelerate new revenue channels, improve in-house analytics, and improve customer experience.
“This partnership is brining together the best of Google technology across cloud, Maps, Ads and more to help Uber continue to improve the customer experience for their users,” says Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet Inc.
Future plans for the partnership include updates to Uber on the Play and Android platforms, continuing to improve Uber App performance.
