DoorDash and Wing Launch Debuting Drone Delivery in U.S.
DoorDash and Wing recently introduced drone deliveries in Christiansburg, Virginia, where select customers with an eligible address could choose to have a 30-minute or less drone delivery for their online Wendy’s menu items when they placed their orders through the DoorDash app. The fast food restaurant chain is the pilot’s first partner in the United States. In 2022, DoorDash and Wing piloted a drone delivery platform in Australia that now has more than 60 merchants participating in the program across three locations in Queensland.
“We are excited to expand our partnership with Wing in the U.S. to integrate drone delivery into DoorDash’s ecosystem,” said Harrison Shih, Senior Director of DoorDash Labs. “At DoorDash, we are committed to advancing last-mile logistics by building a multi-modal delivery platform that serves all sides of our marketplace. We’re optimistic about the value drone delivery will bring to our platform as we work to offer more efficient, sustainable, and convenient delivery options for consumers.”
Wing’s Head of Partnerships, Cosimo Leipold, added, “Expanding our partnership with DoorDash and launching in the U.S. is a direct result of the success we’ve seen from our initial collaboration in Australia, where Wing has served tens of thousands of customers via the DoorDash app for over a year now. Wing has now made over 350,000 deliveries across three countries, and looking ahead, we are focused on providing a fast, affordable, and safe service to our partners so they can better serve their customers. This moment continues our meaningful expansion of this service in the U.S. and advances our shared goal to better the last-mile delivery ecosystem.”
Drones provide quick delivery for short-distance orders of a small capacity. DoorDash Labs, which focuses on robotics and automation, helped propel the recent partnership with Wing.
T-Mobile Supporting Local Communities with $12M+ in Hometown Grants
T-Mobile announced the latest recipients of its Hometown Grants program, extending its support to 275 communities spanning 46 states. This initiative is part of a five-year, $25 million commitment that the mobile communication company launched in April 2021. To spearhead local development projects, financial support and resources for small towns and rural areas will be provided. Thus far, T-Mobile has contributed more than $12 million to education, infrastructure, environmental, and technology projects in underserved communities.
Some of the new projects include revitalizing a former library and empty lot into an outdoor green space in Camden, Arkansas, transforming the Ukiah, California United Disaster Relief Resource Center into a more comfortable environment for disaster victims, creating a Business Tech Center for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in Connecticut, and developing an interactive and inclusive musical garden in the Spencer, Iowa Public Library courtyard.
T-Mobile partners with Main Street America and Smart Growth America each quarter to select 25 grant recipients with populations of 50,000 or less based on certain qualifying criteria, such as projects that promise significant community impact, the scope of the project, and more. The grants are part of a wider T-Mobile commitment to rural America. The mobile provider also offers free internet to eligible students through Project 10Million. The company is also ramping up the expansion of its 5G network for more connectivity in remote communities.

“I am fortunate enough to represent Manchester United at events all over the world,” said Brown. “I have visited Malaysia many times, and I am always blown away by the warm welcome I receive. Malaysia Airlines is a true representation of Malaysia’s friendly culture, and I cannot wait to work with them to engage with our fantastic supporters.”
“Manchester United has a long-standing and proud connection with Malaysia, with a history of passionate support from across the country. We have three official Malaysian supporter’s clubs, with the Kuala Lumpur branch boasting one of the club’s largest supporter communities, reflecting the country’s love of all things United,” added Victoria Timpson, Manchester United’s CEO of Alliances and Partnerships.
Through the partnership, Malaysia Airlines became the club’s official commercial airline. The company will extend its hospitality to an expansive Manchester United community of more than 1.1 billion fans worldwide and deliver immersive experiences for audiences of both brands.
