Always looking to shake things up in the eCommerce world, Amazon has announced they will be offering a second Prime Day sale this year before the holiday season. This sales event will take place early in Q4 due to previous success last year. The Prime Day sales event date will be announced closer to the specific date in October to upend market expectations and lead off the end-of-the-year holiday shopping season with a bang.
“It’s basically the start of the holiday,” Rick Watson, founder and CEO of RMW Commerce Consulting, said by phone of the October event. “Holiday promotions seem to keep moving earlier and earlier, and I think Amazon is using this as a way to kick off the season, get consumers excited thinking about Amazon again and add another bump to volume in the middle of Q4.”
