USPS’s Informed Delivery Transforming Mail Experience for Americans
 
USPS launched the pilot for Informed Delivery in 2014, and, according to a FedScoop article, it had since delivered 12 billion digital images to 24 million consumers in 2019. Informed Delivery gives residential and P.O. Box consumers a digital preview of their household’s mail.
 
“We for the first time had the ability to show consumers a digital aspect of their mail, just from what was in the mail stream already,” said Bob Dixon, USPS’s director of product technology innovation, in the above FedScoop article. “We leveraged those investments that had been designed and implemented to facilitate mail processing and turned those into a product that we that we could give to our consumers.”
 
Chipotle Announces Second Quarter 2020 Results
 
Chipotle has announced its 2020 second-quarter results. Revenue has decreased 4.8 percent to $1.4 billion, while digital sales grew 216.3 percent and accounted for 60.7 percent of the sales for Chipotle’s second quarter.
 
“I want to thank all of our employees for delivering excellent guest experiences, supporting our restaurants, and supporting each other during these challenging times,” said Brian Niccol, Chairman and CEO, Chipotle, in a Chipotle Quarterly Results article. “Our investment in digital over the past few years has provided our customers with convenient access to Chipotle how and where they want it. We’ll continue to invest in elevating the digital experience, including opening more Chipotlanes, while innovating with new culinary offerings such as cauliflower rice, organic beverages, and quesadillas. I’m confident we will finish 2020 with good momentum and be well-positioned for the long run.”

L.L. Bean Hits Nordstrom, Staples in First U.S. Wholesaler Partnerships
 
According to a Fox Business article, L.L. Bean has announced that it is partnering as a wholesaler at Nordstrom, Staples, and SCHEELS stores. L.L. Bean backpacks and water bottles had already gone on sale in more than 1,000 Staples two weeks ago.
 
“During the pandemic, L.L. Bean closed its stores temporarily, but its online and catalog sales thrived with strong sales of comfort items like slippers in March, outdoor furniture and hammocks in April, and bikes, kayaks, and canoes in May, said spokesperson Amanda Hannah in the above article.”
 
Ford Expands Partnership with Mobileye, Intel’s Autonomous Driving Business
 
Ford has announced it is expanding its partnership with Mobileye, which is an Intel-owned autonomous technology business.
 
According to the above article, “Specifically, Ford plans to improve its Ford Co-Pilot360 technology with Mobileye’s EyeQ system-on-chip (SoC) devices and its vision-processing software. The improvements will support Level 1 and Level 2 systems in Ford vehicles globally. According to the Society of Automotive Engineers, Level 1 systems a single automated feature — either automated steering or automated acceleration/braking — while Level 2 systems provide both steering and acceleration/braking support.”

Wells Fargo Pledges to Help Provide 50 Million Meals to Fight Hunger
 
Wells Fargo has announced that in select cities in the summer, it will launch a Drive-Up Food Bank program that will help families facing food insecurity during the pandemic. It is working with Feeding America and has a goal of providing 50 million meals.
 
“Americans around the country are hurting right now as they try to make ends meet due to the deep economic impact of COVID-19,” said Bill Daley, vice chairman of Public Affairs at Wells Fargo, in a Wells Fargo news release. “One of the biggest challenges in the current environment is getting food to those who need it most. That’s why Wells Fargo is using the broad reach of our locations, including bank branches and corporate properties around the country, to help distribute food and increase accessibility for families facing hunger.”
