Omni Revamps Loyalty Program with More Ways to Earn Rewards

Omni Hotels & Resorts has announced changes to its Select Guest loyalty program designed to help members earn rewards faster. Starting in January, members will receive program credits on most purchases charged to their room, such as dining, golfing, and spa services. The program will continue issuing credits for each night of lodging.

Select Guest will adopt a new tier structure with four levels: Member, Insider, Champion, and Icon. The levels deliver progressive benefits and rewards. Status is determined by members’ total on-property spend during each calendar year.

Status attained by the end of 2023 will be honored at an equivalent level throughout 2024, and the value of existing credits will not change, said Omni.

Marriott Bonvoy Holds Cyber Week Sale with 20% Off Bookings

Members of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program can get 20% off bookings placed by Tuesday, November 28. The Cyber Week savings are available on stays from November 26 through January 15, 2024, at more than 6,500 Marriot properties.

Bonvoy members can donate their reward points to select non-profit organizations. Through November 28, the program will donate two points for every point donated by members to World Central Kitchen, World Wildlife Fund, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

In addition to the booking discount, members receive 20% off mattresses and bedding at Mariott Bonvoy Boutiques through November 28.

Southwest Airlines Strengthens Net Zero Emissions Strategy

Southwest Airlines has announced updates to its sustainability plan to support net zero carbon emissions by 2050.  The carrier’s Nonstop to Net Zero strategy now includes electrifying 50% of ground support equipment by 2030. Currently, 33% of Southwest ground equipment runs on electric power, and the airline is working with airports to expand their electric infrastructure. By 2025, the carrier plans to remove 50% of single-use plastics by weight from infight service — and eliminate them where feasible by 2030.

With current and upcoming efficiency initiatives, the airline targets saving 50 million gallons of fuel in 2025 and 1.1 billion cumulative gallons by 2025. Southwest saved 33 million gallons in 2022. Updates to flight planning software are expected to save at least 145,000 metric tons of CO2 annually.

Among existing sustainability measures, Southwest plans to replace 10% of jet fuel consumption with non-petroleum biofuels by 2030 and reduce energy consumption by 50% at its Dallas headquarters by 2030.
