In 2001, the popular hamburger chain White Castle established an exclusive club: the Cravers Hall of Fame. Every year, hopeful Cravers submit their personal stories explaining why they should be considered for induction. Cravers’ stories range from funny to emotional. This year’s inductees include an octogenarian who has celebrated his birthday on Christmas Eve at a White Castle for most of his life, a couple that got engaged at one of the restaurants, and a man who weathered a Chicago snowstorm for a taste of White Castle.
In a new twist, the brand also inducted Whiting, Indiana, as the community supported White Castle as they updated a historic location. Columbus TV news anchor Angela An was inducted as a “Craver in Extremis” — a designation reserved for public figures, celebrities, and pop icons — for her ongoing enthusiasm for the brand.
“More than two decades ago, we created a Cravers Pantheon to celebrate the devotion of customers whose loyalty to White Castle transcends our Sliders and tasty sides. It was our pleasure to induct another 11 of our most ardent fans and — for the first time — a city into our Cravers Hall of Fame. Their stories celebrate the magic that happens when White Castle connects with people in special ways,” says Jamie Richardson, VP at White Castle.
Inductees attended a ceremony at White Castle’s annual leadership conference in Columbus, Ohio. Complimentary travel, dining, and hotel accommodations were provided. Inductees were given commemoration plaques, and their stories will appear on select Slider box packaging.
