Taco Bell Brings Back Coin Drop Game Through its Mobile App, Gives Rewards Members a Chance to Win

Taco Bell is bringing back the beloved Coin Drop game with a modern twist, now available exclusively on its mobile app. In the 2000s, this game captured the hearts of fans, offering them a chance to win prizes while also supporting charitable causes. From 2003 to 2016, Coin Drop raised an impressive $41 million, contributing to Live Más Scholarships and Community Grants that empower students to pursue higher education and create positive change in their communities. 

The new version of the mobile game is open to Taco Bell Rewards members and will run until August 14, 2023. When Rewards members choose to Round Up in the Taco Bell mobile app during checkout, they will receive a digital "coin" and earn an additional 10 loyalty points to use towards their next reward. 

After placing a mobile order and opting to Round Up, customers will spot an updated Coin Drop banner on the app's homepage. They can either practice their skills or use their digital "coins" to play the game for real. The goal is to skillfully land the virtual "coin" on the lowest pink paddle, aiming to win a delectable Taco Bell menu item. The available prizes remain the same as the original Coin Drop game: customers can choose from Cinnamon Twists, a Crunchy Taco, or a Bean Burrito. Funds collected through rounding up will be directly channeled to the Taco Bell Foundation, supporting scholarships, grants, and educational experiences. 

"We've seen so much success in meeting our fans where they are – from launching the Taco Lover's Pass to the in-app voting experience and we're excited to introduce this digital iteration of Coin Drop. This game offers fans a new way to win and give back, all at their fingertips with the Taco Bell app," said Dane Mathews, Chief Digital Officer at Taco Bell. "Many of our fans have fond memories of playing the original Coin Drop at their local Taco Bell – so it only made sense that we bring the game back for our Rewards members to transport customers back in time and give them another shot at winning."
