Jersey Mike's Donated 20 Percent of its Sales to Feeding America Last Weekend

This past weekend Jersey Mike's teamed up with Feeding America to help donate meals to those in need. The brand said that it would donate 20 percent of sales, up to $1 million, to Feeding America from Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26. "School closures and rising unemployment due to shelter-in-place and stay-at-home orders have disproportionately impacted people already at risk of hunger," said Katie Fitzgerald, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Feeding America in a press release. "We are grateful for Jersey Mike's generous support of food banks that are in communities helping people who struggle with hunger. This donation will help our member food banks provide more meals to people who need them most."

According to the press release, Feeding America estimates that 37 million people in America face hunger and that an additional 17.1 million could face the same problem in the next six months due to the pandemic.

Texting Customers Is No Longer Taboo When Everyone Is Stuck at Home

The women's apparel brand Summersault Inc. has started messaging its customers with uplifting memes and activities during the quarantine. To get involved in this, people have to text "Joycast" to a specific number to get subscribed to this. Reshma Chattaram Chamberlin, co-founder and chief brand and digital officer of Summersalt, said Summersalt's brand is meant to be joyful and sunny.
