Worldpay from FIS Reports Online Marketplaces Popularity Has Risen 

Merchant solutions provider Worldpay from FIS has shared a report revealing that online marketplaces have caught up to physical stores in popularity. Online bargain hunters mostly hail from the U.S. (62%) and the U.K. (73%). The largest demographic choosing to shop at online marketplaces is Gen X.  

“With the rise of cost-conscious shoppers, consumers are now finding online marketplaces meet their needs better than conventional eCommerce sites, which only offer products from a single retailer. It’s not just competitive prices that marketplaces offer, but the convenience and a more seamless experience which is driving their growth,” says retail expert Maria Prados, Worldpay from FIS.    

During the holiday season, when bargain shoppers across the globe search for deals, instances of fraud and disputes also increase. Online marketplace and brick-and-mortar merchants are tasked with working to minimize the risk of a negative hit. Worldpay from FIS suggests that merchants: 

  • Use solutions such as 3DS (3D secure solution) for eCommerce transactions. 

  • Provide exceptional customer service.  

  • Require signed proof of delivery/use a reliable delivery service. 

  • Keep payment and return terms and conditions concise and easy to find.

Wow Bao Expands CPG Line with Giant Eagle Partnership 

Asian fast-casual restaurant brand Wow Bao has added yet another grocery chain to its list of partners: Giant Eagle. Wow Bao drove a rapid expansion of its CPG line into grocery freezers in 2023, beginning with 350 stores in the U.S. and reaching over 5,000 by yearend.  

Giant Eagle, a Pittsburgh-based grocery chain, will offer Wow Bao’s Teriyaki Chicken Bao and Cheeseburger Bao in Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.   

“The addition of Giant Eagle to our portfolio of grocers is a tremendous finish to our year,” says Geoff Alexander, president and CEO of Wow Bao. “Our goal has always been to bring extraordinary food to our guests, and with the significant expansion of our CPG line, our fan base can now enjoy our product in the comfort of their kitchen no matter where they live.”
