Sam’s Club Increases Membership Fee Sam’s Club announced it will raise its annual fees as the warehouse club’s membership is at a record high and shoppers affected by inflation seek deals on bulk items. Fees will increase by five or ten dollars depending on the membership tier.
The price increase marks the first fee hike in nine years for the entry-level membership. The “Plus” tiered membership has not increased since 1999. Sam’s Club will reimburse the fee increase in Sam’s Cash that can be used at its stores.
Gap Opens Automated Fulfillment Center Gap has opened an 850,000-square-foot Customer Experience Center in Longview, Texas, featuring robotics and automation technology. The company is providing a self-service portal with API integrations to Shopify, Amazon and other commerce platforms, as well as integration with post-purchase experience platforms.
Gap is also launching its new GPS Platform Service offering omnichannel fulfillment services to other retailers using Gap’s nationwide distribution network and handling tasks. This will include delivery to customers or stores, returns initiation, and processing at its fulfillment centers.
