Pulling the Plug on Points: Potbelly Perks Loyalty Program Offers Members Coins

Fans of Potbelly, a neighborhood sandwich shop with 340+ company-owned locations in the U.S., can now earn rewards more quickly and choose to redeem from an expanded list of menu options. The brand has introduced “bankable Coins,” which replace Points as offered in the former Perks program. Program members can redeem the new Coins for beverages, soups, sandwiches, and more.

The Potbelly App and the brand’s website also received an updated look. The Perks page offers more information on the enhanced loyalty program. Members who had originally earned Points will see them converted to Coins. Potbelly also made it easier for members to enjoy program benefits. Instead of requiring a minimum of 1,000 earned Points to redeem for an Entrée, Coin redemption starts at 200 under the improved program.

“The reimagined Perks loyalty program puts Potbelly fans in greater control of their rewards. Previously, our fans had to wait until they had enough points to earn a reward for a free Entrée. Now they can earn a reward in as little as one or two visits and have access to the entire menu,” explains David Daniels, Chief Marketing Officer at Potbelly.

For every dollar spent, members earn 10 Coins. The program is tiered — Rookie, Pro, and Boss — and the higher the level, the more Coins can be earned per dollar spent. Other program benefits include special offers released throughout the year, such as 2X Coin days and birthday treats.
